Growing in faith and community—explore our ministries and serve alongside us in God's love!

Christian Education | Chair- DeAnna Conover

Fosters spiritual growth and faith development through Scripture-centered learning. Encourages all ages to deepen their discipleship journey with engaging, reflective study. Helps our Camphor community grow together in faith and understanding.


United Women in Faith | President: Saran Cryer

Connects women through spiritual formation, leadership development, and community impact. Empowers women to act boldly in love, faith, and justice, transforming communities locally and globally. Provides fellowship through gatherings, service, and advocacy for women, children, and youth.


United Methodist Men | President: Carlton Garner

Empowers men to grow spiritually while serving the church and community. Builds strong bonds through Bible studies, fellowship, and mission projects rooted in faith and service. Encourages men to live out Christ’s love in practical, meaningful ways.


Hospitality Ministry | Chair: Renee Neal Elzia

Creates a warm, welcoming environment for all who enter Camphor’s doors. Oversees hospitality efforts and church events to ensure that members and visitors feel valued and cared for. Embodies radical welcome and Black joy in community.


Worship Ministry Team | Chair: Linda Anderson-Hill

Plans and shapes worship services to be spirit-filled, accessible, and meaningful. Collaborate with pastors, musicians, and lay leaders to craft worship rooted in faith and culture. Seeks to draw all closer to God through praise and worship.


Music & Worship Arts | Coordinator of Worship Arts: Kevin Jackson

Leads the congregation in worship through music, song, and creative expression. Offers opportunities for all ages to participate in choirs and musical offerings. Enriches worship with music that honors God and reflects our heritage.

    • Shares the beauty of worship through the vibrant sound of handbells during services.
  • Voices of Grace Choir (Children)
    • Lifts the voices of our children in praise as they learn and lead worship through song.
  • Youth Choir
    • Lifts the voices of our youth in praise as they grow in faith and lead through song.
  • Sanctuary Choir
    • Leads the congregation in worship with songs that inspire and uplift.
  • Women’s Chorale
    • Creates a rich, spirit-filled worship experience through the voices of women in the congregation.
  • Men’s Choir
    • Brings powerful and soulful praise to worship through the voices of men in the congregation.


Health & Wellness Ministry | Chair: May McCoy Anderson

Promotes holistic health within the congregation and community. Provides health information, screenings, and vaccine clinics to care for well-being. Embodies care for mind, body, and spirit as part of faithful living.


Peace Garden Ministry | Chair: Dr. Darlene Fry

Cultivates a space of beauty, healing, and connection through gardening. Encourages spiritual reflection and environmental stewardship. Offers opportunities for members and neighbors to grow food, share fellowship, and nurture peace in the community


Administrative Council | Chair: Nieeta Presley

Provides spiritual and practical leadership to guide Camphor’s mission, vision, and ministries. This team ensures our work aligns with God’s call to serve our people and community faithfully. 


Staff-Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) | Chairs: Pedro Ramos & Theresa Neal

Supports the well-being of clergy and staff while helping to advance Camphor’s mission. Serves as a bridge between the congregation and leadership, fostering communication grounded in love, accountability, and shared purpose.


Congregational Care Team

Supports members through prayer, visits, and companionship during life’s challenges. Ensures no member feels forgotten or alone, providing comfort and connection. Embodies Christ’s love and care for one another.


Trustee Ministry Team | Chair: Trenna Ross McQuirter

Oversees the maintenance and stewardship of the church’s property and resources. Ensures facilities are safe, welcoming, and aligned with the church’s mission. Provides a stable foundation for ministry, worship, and community gatherings.


Safe Sanctuaries (Crisis Ministry Team) | Chair: Steve McCarty

Upholds the United Methodist Church’s Safe Sanctuaries policy by preparing Camphor to respond to medical, trauma, and weather-related emergencies. Coordinates crisis plans that protect the well-being of all and ensure the church remains a place of safety, refuge, and care.


Finance Ministry Team | Chair: David Webb

Manages the church’s financial resources with faithfulness and integrity. Oversees budgets, offerings, and financial records to support Camphor’s mission. Ensures responsible stewardship to sustain ministry and service.

  • Offering Counters | Team: Fayette Wulf, Brenda Robinson, Lloyd O’Neal, Edward Cunningham
    • Processes weekly offerings with confidentiality and accuracy. Records contributions to support the mission of Camphor. Serves faithfully behind the scenes to sustain the church’s work.
  • Reconciliation/Bookkeeper | Evelyn Doyle
    • Manages financial records with precision and transparency. Ensures accuracy in transactions to support Camphor’s ministries. Provides accountability in the stewardship of church resources.


Ushers/Greeters | Chair: Saran Cryer

Welcome worshippers warmly while maintaining a reverent atmosphere during worship. Distribute bulletins, assist with offerings, and guide the congregation as needed. Ensure all feel seen, valued, and ready to worship.


Communion Stewards | Chair: Harold Golden

Prepare and set up the sanctuary for communion on the first Sunday of each month. Assist in serving communion to the congregation. Help create a sacred and organized experience for this act of worship.


Social Justice Ministry | Leads: Min. JaNaé Bates, Vivian Ihekoronye, Anita Alexander, Dr. Grace Warren

Equips the congregation to live out faith through action for justice and equity. Partners with ISAIAH to organize for racial, economic, and environmental justice grounded in faith. Embodies Micah 6:8 in calling us to act justly and love mercy.


Book Club | Chair: Anita Alexander

Gathers monthly to read and discuss books chosen by the group. Fosters community while encouraging dialogue and learning. Creates a space for connection, reflection, and spiritual growth.


Media Ministry

Manages sound, recording, and livestreaming for worship and church events. Ensures that in-house and online participants can fully engage in worship. Extends Camphor’s reach beyond the building into the wider community.


Oglesby House of Blessings (Community Outreach Ministry)

Serves as the outreach arm of Camphor Memorial UMC, focused on living out our commitment to the community we are called to serve. Builds relationships through service, compassion, and presence in the neighborhood.
